A few years ago I got fed up and tin foiled the fuse for the brake & flashers in my '79. It kept blowing them every few weeks. It's never burned up, so I can't think of any reason why ? A week ago I was running the sweeper in it and I saw the tin foil still in there and I decided to try another one and a week later it still blew. Any ideas ?
What size fuse are you using? I think it should be a 20 amp. It also shows the fuse to feed the hazards as well as the brake circuit.
Is that the only fuse that blows? The directional fuse never blows? If that is the case, then I would suspect a problem in the pedal area or the steering column. The turnsignals use the same bulbs and wires as the brake circuit uses from the steering column all the way back to the rear.
A 30 amp fuse will certainly cook the wires better if there is actually a short.
Does NAPA or any other parts stores still carry the old style circuit breakers?
When I can use a c/b in place of the fuse, it helps locate the short or bad section of wire during wiggle testing.
