Truth be told, you don't find the deals, the deals find you. Don't worry, your deals will find you. I was that way for a long time. But now its like every few weeks something new finds its way to me. What sucks is when you find a deal, but still can't afford it. It's sort of like being a nerd in high school and trying to find a chick that will put out. The only ones you find are either too nasty to mess with (be it pizza face Angie who sat behind you in math, or that Dana 60 that actually turned out to be a rotten rusted 37 year old dana 44LP in the UP), or they are too nice, too expensive, or too good to be true, (like the preppy cheer leader that always seemed to evade you, or that sweet looking Hi-Boy in Arizona the guy wants big money or to trade for something, but nothing you have is good enough).
Basically what you have to do is keep your eyes and ears open, and get in good with as many 4 wheelin folks as you can. Especially the ones whos parents are rich and buy them everything, so they don't value anything, and sell it off cheap. Or find folks that have the itch, and are always buying the best this or that, and scraping or selling what they used to have that worked just as well, and then pray to God it is compatible with your junk.
Then again, you could always just get a job that makes you tons of money, and everything would seem like a good deal, because you can afford it.
p.s. I'm also getting a pair of ladder bars for my truck from my father in law. He just bought a '61 K10 shortbed. The PO put the ladder bars on, but he wants to return it to stock. MU AH HA HA!!!
