First, welcome to FTE. The $85 charge is bunk, and you should have never accepted it. There are TSBs out there dealing with toe wear, so Ford should have picked up the bill.

As for the rear windows down while driving.... thats normal. That is simple aerodynamics and air pressure differences at work. You are probably hearing the air during that..... nothing out of the ordinary.

Side mirrors loose? First Ive heard of that.

The bed movement is well known. It is not a "problem" persay. When you combine lightweight bed materials, with a VERY stiff frame (9x stronger than previous generation F150s!)... you are going to see some flex. I do have to ask.... is this your first truck? If so, what did you come from previous? Enjoy the boards here.

Thanks all
Ordered a new SCREW 07 to replace my o6. Ford lowered the price on the 07 so I got more options on the new one for the same price. Now all I have to do is wait for it to come in

It was getting 15-17 mpg in the city and well over 20 on the highway. I have had my 06 for a little over a year and it has 5500 miles on it. I dont drive it much cause I have a motorcycle. I had a problem with it around 230 miles the cam in the right head went bad and the truck was not driveable. The dealer offered to buy this truck back and give me a new one but I opted to stick with this one. They gave me a 7yr 75000 mile premium care warranty with a 0 dollar deductable. You may want to persure that with the new truck you get. Just a thought for your troubles. Extended coverage is expensive. I will buy another diesel but I am not sure if it will be a FORD truck or not. I am not to keen on the look of the new Super Duty (08's) and I will not be ready for a few years. So maybe a nice used 07. Good luck with your case. I have been there and I had to work at it and I guess that it may have been cheaper for me to just trade it in and get a new truck but sometimes its about the principle. You on the other hand are lucky you dont have to go through the hassle of arbitration.

I am glad everything worked out well for you. Unfortunately, where I live there is only one Fordr dealership around. The next closest is 60 miles away and is where I bought it. They were so shady that they charge me taxes and registration even though I lived in a different state. So I had out of state plates, therefoe I will not go back with them.

I love this truck but if something else goes wrong I will definitely trade it in for a Ch..y or go to Los Angeles, CA to buy another one for better pricing.

What bothers me a lot is the vibration in the truck bed area. I saw another one on the road and it looks like if the truck has been in a wreck, or if the truck bed is falling apart.

First of all, thanks for the welcome sign. I am glad I found this forum, I know already that there is a wealth of informed responses here. Well, I tried to fight the $85.00 charge but the dealer held ground.

I assumed that it was some kind of stronger frame-stiffer suspension contributing to the shaking of the truck bed, so I am glad that you mentioned it. I was concerned about a lemon truck. I can live with that. Your response it was very reassuring.

Now, it is not my first truck, therefore I have been comparing it with the trucks that I previously owned.

I had a 88 Toyota minitruck, later I bought a new 1997 supercab which I loved. Sold it in 03 with close to 200,000 miles and still running strong. This truck I dropped in 1997 2in in the front and 4 in the back. Drawback was that it was a V6. Later, I got bit by the Off road bug and lifted in 2002 7in with 33 tires. This was too much for a V6, that's why I sold it. I also had a 97 dodge 1500 4X4. This truck had a 5.9 V8 and only 150000 miles on it. I put a 4in lift with 33's. I Love it but sold it last month.

And of course, my wife 05 crew cab F150. This truck I put shackles in the back and lowered 1 in. I might lower it one more inch next week after I put 22's in it.

I almost forgot. The side mirrors housing is firmly attached to the truck. The mirror by itself or the hardware that is holding the mirror is loose. You can move it up and down with your had, so when on the road is like trying to look into a rear view mirror in a Harley Davidson motorcycle. When I took it to the dealer I listed as a safety hazard but they did not do anything about it. I might drive it in the dealer because to me is a hazard, especially when changing lanes.

The AC went bad. They told me that it was a relay or something and replace it. Unfortunately, I still feels like there is something wrong with it. Last month, we were returning from a trip and I had it full blast but the blower felt like it was not blowing enough air. About an hour later, icy cristals came out of one of the vents. I have not taken it for inspection yet.

Since I am a newbie here there is a lot of reading for me to do here, therefore I will keep enjoying the forums and getting informed with all your post.

Did you ever rotate the tires on the Truck? On all Ford Trucks you should go get the tires rotated and balanced every 5k miles. It will get you more life out of the tires and you wont get the uneven wear on the outside. The fords are bad about this and the only thing I have found to fix it is to rotate every 5k miles. I used to work at Discount tire while I was going to school at UNT and the people who actually rotated them on time were the ones whos tires lasted twice as long as the rest.

I have 3 04 F150's supercrew, extra, 2wd and 4wd, the only thing I can say is run the tires at max airpressure when cold, pitch the stock joke off a shock and your tires last. 92,000 on my second set still have about 20k left on them, do alot of mountain driving. The stock shocks have zero compression dampning only rebound. Ride is just a tad stiffer but when you carry a load it doesnt buck anymore.
My complaint is Ford wants 329.00 each for front Rotors, thats beyond highway robbery, thats more like a mercy killing. Thanks Napa 168.00 each.

I am going thru the headache right now... Ford called me back and said they were not going to go any further with my truck but offered an extended warranty for my truck which I told them "Yeah right"...

Anyways, if anyone has had a buy back..please PM me.

Thanks!!!

So far I have had my first problem under 4K miles (oil leaks) and since then....
- 4 oil leaks last one being crank seal
- 3 EGRs
- 2 serpentine belts
- 2 glow plug cover replacements
- 3 oil pumps
Currently 35K miles and its a 2004 PSD.
History if it running rough, etc..

Not sure if they would buy back an 2004, i would take the warranty untill you get things worked out one way or another. Or get things repaired and trade it.

What sucks is the problems started around 3100 miles or so...and without them giving me a loaner to use, it was very hard to keep taking my truck back for repairs so I would wait 3-4 months to take it back for the leaks, etc.... I never thought I would be in this position. I have documented (the best I can) the mileage/time I took the truck in and out of the shop since I've owned it. (its going to add up alot of miles and time!)

But just by my history, the truck is obviously a "trouble child" with the repeat problems that have been proven are not going away...thats the main reason I dont want the warranty, I just want OUT. I didnt want to trade, cause I am going to take a huge hit.

Still fighting the fight...keep ya all posted.

wow, that puts the situation a bit more in perspective. have you tried contacting someone a little higher up than the local dealer? i had vibration issues with my truck when i first got it, but they replaced all 4 tires for me.

my next issue is when i start my car up, it vibrates slightly for about 30 seconds then it stops. it only does it if the truck has been sitting for while. over 2 or 3 hours.

i wish you good luck RoofGoof

Hey RoofGoof, sounds like you got my old truck. I had an 04 PSD and it too had a laundry list of problems. I had it a little over a year and it had about 7800 miles on it. It was a long road but FORD bought it back from me. I am not sure that they will do the same for you. In the next year or two I will be looking for another Diesel. I am not sure if it will be a FORD or not. They are changing it again next year, 6.4 litre PSD. So I may buy a used 07. I have been looking into a Dodge and a GMC. From what I can see the only thing Dodge had going for it is the Cumins too bad its in that truck. The Duramax/Allison combo is tough to beat so we will see where Ford is when its time to buy. As far as you go there is a lot of discussion on these early 6.0 PSD in the diesel forum. My 04 actually had an 03 engine in it is was an early build 04. TRADE IT IN. Get an 07 or waith for an 08. At any rate I wish you luck been there.

I thought I heard recently taht Ford HAS A BUYBACK program for the '04 PSD. You might wanna check back with your dealer about it or call Ford direct and ask about it.

They called me back and now re-opening my case since I told them I got advice from an attorney and was pursuing it as a lemon.
Unbelievable....we'll see what happens I guess.

I've owned my 05 for a year.
Tranny dropped much more frequently than engine oil changed, for the single same problem. They did it more than the number that state lemon law requires for a buy back.
But I never thought about going that trouble. The reason? From how little ford dealers care about that, and how easy they took their first 4 shots, I clearly see that they must've got their way to handle any possible lemon lawsuits.
From the day I wrote the check, they got me.
After all, I still love this truck.
But ford services, and their dealer mechanics, suck.
I feel lucky that my warranty is 3/36, instead of 5/60, which means I'll start working on it by my own earlier.
Nobody takes care of you beter than yourself.
