I know I'm not the first to notice this. It was time for a fuel filter change so by the time I make it home it is dark. I put on a small 2 lamp led headlight and take the cover and filter cap off and I also have a very bright led flashlight aimed on the housing when I pop the cover off and what do I see????? GREEN fuel. I mean right out of the anti-freeze jug green. I am looking at this green crap and what can it be? Anti-freeze? Nope, it can't be. By the way, I run the red lifetime anti freeze. So I replace the filter with nothing really remarkable other a really scrungy filter. I had put the filter in a Wally bag near my porch and had to look when I finished up. Then I notice the fuel is again clear. Yep, It appears the fuel looks green in the led light.
sounds like algea, dont know if i spelt it right, do u ever get the water in fuel light? i dont know exactly how to clean it out but i would assume there is an additive u can add to your tank for a few tank fulls and take care of it.
Well for what its worth, Off road diesel is dyed red and road diesel is green
Same thing other than color, but fall into different tax criteria. (offroad has no tax)

Nope, no algae. I go through 30 gals of fuel a week. That was a fresh fill up yesterday at Wally's. Like I said, under incandesant light it is plain old fuel. I just thought it was too weird to not mention.
i am with powrstrkn, they dye the diesel different colors to tell offroad from highways use diesels. i believe offroad diesels are a different make-up and are not taxed. off road is used for farmers and heavy construction. if your stopped by the DOT and you have offroad diesel in your tank you are in a bit of trouble.

No Brother, Like I said. Under normal incandesant light, it is plain old clear fuel. As amiller93 said, it must be a wavelength thing.
Matter of fact if you think you have algae in fuel then you can take a fuel sample an "look" at it under a black light. Most algae's will "glow" under ultra violet light
i drain the bleed valve on the fuel filter every other week and the fuel is always green.
im from ireland and over there road diesel is white and off road is red.big difference in price and getting caught using red in your truck is very very expensive,
