Question

Just a quick question. How would one of these mufflers sound on the 4.2?

if your talking the 40 vs the 50, the 40 WILL be louder....take it to the bank..but the 6 (any 6) just doesnt have that "deep" throaty mellow or loud, tone. You can hear one going down the st. occasionally, ford chevy or dodge, it just doesnt as cool i guess you could say. those 2 extra cylinders makes a lot of diff. in the sound waves coming thru. BTW, i bolted mine up so i can swap it out, even put back to stock if i want to. paul...('05 4.6 scab)

Nice looking truck BTW

50 series muffler cost more than a 40. 40's will be about $60-70, and a 50 is about a $110. My tip installed was about 70. The muffler and install was about $265.

I really like the way mine sounds. Its deep. It also has a different sound than a V8, so you can't really compare the sound qualities. It depends on whose listening, but everybody that hears mine says it sounds cool and really good. It doesn't sound like a toyota or anything like that. One thing I can tell you is it doesn't sound like my 460.

Just to throw my .02 in -- I just got my Super 40 Flowmaster True Dual system -- 2.5" pipe 3" tip installed -- Not broken in yet -- PLENTY QUIET in the cab -- but a very nice rumble outside -- I would recommend for sure.

i just put a 40 series 2 chamber on my 04 Scab 4.6. 2.5" tubing with 3.5" Dual Wall tips. not completely broken in yet but already sounds good. At 70 mph i get a nice tone that could put you to sleep. It's loud, but not nasty.

I will bet that extra .5" tip makes it a bit louder -- I didnt even think of going bigger than 3" o well -- I am going to try to get a clip of my sound in a couple weeks when it breaks n
