Hey folks! I replaced my front Brake pads this past weekend and noticed some uneven wear on both calipers on the inside pads. That tells me that the pistons are not retracting far enough.
Question 1:
Is that a correct assumption? Pistons not retracting enough?
Question 2:
Should I just go ahead and replace the calipers with new ones instead of doing overhauls on them?
Question 3:
What is a loaded and semi loaded caliper? I have seen them at Autozone.
Keep in mind the fully loaded ones usually come with very cheap pads (depending on the brand) and if you choose to go with them, there should be a friction code stamped on each box... make sure both boxes have the same code, or you'll have one with softer pads then the other.
Uneven wear meaning that the inside pad on both sides was worn down to almost nothing while the outside pad on both sides still had enough material so that the wear indicator was not even touching the rotor. Does that tell you what kind of uneven wear? If not please let me know. I did see some calipers on Ebay for a good price. Anybody have any experience with these?
I like the Morse Ceramic pads from Autozone. But I have only just used them on the rear. They are $40 and seem to work well. Again any input is appreciated.
