Odometer reading vs hour meter reading

I've recorded the mileage and hours at each fill-up and oil change since my truck was purchased. I got to thinking about this because of a thread about idling and another about warm up time, etc. I don't have to let my PSD idle much at start-up because of where I live.

What's your trucks odometer vs hour meter reading?
  • 9,848 miles - 254.8 hours 10-18-05
  • 14,913 miles - 387.4 hours 2-18-06
  • 20,935 miles - 550.8 hours 6-12-06
  • 25,526 miles - 675.0 hours 9-28-06

Technically you can only go to one significant digit since that is the precision given in the original data. So it should be 56.4 mph.

If you do have one hit the tripometer button on the dash, mine goes from mileage to trip to hour meter.

20047 miles, 389.1 hours. average 51.5 mph???

If my math is right, this doesn't seem accurate.

I have taken 2 round trips of about 600 miles each way (2400 miles total) that were almost all highway miles, at around 70-75 mph. Throw in a few 'pit stops' along the way if it makes any difference.

Other than that, almost all the rest of my miles have been about 70% city/30% highway.

I guess I never gave it any thought, and am not sure it matters anyway, but I find it hard to beleive that I have averaged 51.5 mph for 20k miles.

Anyway, you asked....I answered. I love this site!!
