I have a 1993 Ford F-150 Automatic 2wd. The engine dies when I go from drive to reverse. It also dies when I'm in 1 and 2 at a stop from drive. Reverse, 1, and 2 almost die when I go from park. When I press gas there is a clunk or click, also when i let off gas. When I press gas, driving from a stop, there is a constant tick through first gear and RPMs go up and it doesn't shift until i let off gas. There is also a hissing from the trans.
What's wrong? What do I do? I'm in need of any info.

It might be two problems happening at once. The clicking sound could be a u-joint. As far as the stalling problem, it could be engine, or the converter clutch might not be disengaging. Try pulling the vacumn hose off of the EGR and see if it quits stalling. Does the truck shoot backwards when you put it in reverse like it's got a manual transmission? You need to check your transmission pressure. If something electrical shorts out, the pressure will soar to 150+ lbs, and it won't shift properly. A frequent cause of problems is the MLPS (Manual lever position sensor, or as it used to be called, - neutral safety switch) It's the switch down on the manual shift lever, and if it gets water in it, or shorts out, it can cause problems. I was having problems with mine a few years back, so I put a guage on a long piece of high pressure hose (transmission cooler hose) and took it for a road test holding the guage through the window. It would have normal pressure, and once in a while it would jump to 160 lbs, and the transmission would downshift. It was the MLPS shorting out. I thought the trans was toast and was ready to order a $2500 replacement before I did the gauge thing.
