Great thank you!

OEM Part

I ordered mine from fordparts.com. The part number is: 6L3Z-1522405-AB. It went for about $50. Looking back at it I can't believe it was so cheap. The keyless entry option is great.

yeah, Im with Al... i couldnt believe that a door handle and the keyless entry pad (already attached) was only $46.XX . it shocked me. but it works like a charm. you can install it yourself, but $50 wasnt worth the headache or risk of messing something up or starting a job that i might not be able to finish.

im going to buy this from the website just mentioned. My only other question, i see that you have to have the computer reset. is that a dealer only thing? im hoping the keypad will just work. any thoughts?

NO, i believe that the dealer has to reflash the computer... it only takes about 2 minutes. If you pay the dealer to install the door handle, they should include the reflashing. it shouldnt be more than 1 hour of labor. The TECH who did mine told me that the computer had to be reflashed.. or reprogramed or something to that affect before the door handle would work.

The tech was the same one who hooked a small handheld computer to my car and told me that i had the keyless door option, even though i had the card in my owners manual

when you program new remote controls, all you have to do is cycle the key 8 times and then the locks will cycle..... then just push a button on each remote and let the locks again cycle for each remote.......... so, could you just do this, and after the remotes are in, just enter your key pad code while the pcm is in the program phase?

looks like in the picture in catalog that the keypad is below the door handle and not part of it.

Technical Service Bulletin

I just found the technical service bulletin, in case anybody wants it:

FORD: 2004-2005 F-150

ISSUE:
Some 2004-2005 F-150 vehicles built through 2/7/2005, may exhibit an inoperative keyless entry keypad. This may be due to the vehicle security module (VSM) not being configured to accept keyless entry keypad input.

ACTION:
Reprogram the VSM using the As Built Data in this TSB. Refer to the following Service Procedure to access and re-configure the VSM using WDS, NGS+ or NGS Classic.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

WDS PROCEDURE

Close any existing sessions on WDS.
Disable the VSM by removing fuse F2.107, or by disconnecting VSM connector.
Start a new WDS session, (select 16 Pin > all except those below, etc.).
Allow WDS to identify the vehicle, perform VIN confirmation and RO screens by pressing check mark button, (VSM will fail network test because it is disabled).
Select Toolbox tab, pick Module Programming, Programmable Module Installation > VSM.
Follow WDS prompts to cycle the key OFF, press check mark button.
When "INSTALL A NEW MODULE IN VEHICLE" appears, reconnect VSM module or reinstall fuse F2.107.
Follow prompt to cycle key ON, press check mark.
When the explanation screen indicates As Built data will need to be entered, press check mark.
Enter the appropriate As Built data when prompted. After entering C1-01 data from As built press the check mark. WDS will then prompt for C1-02 data, enter 6010 0000 0033 for Regular and Super Cab, or enter 2010 0000 00F3 for SuperCrew, then press the check mark. After entering the C1-03 data from As built press the check mark. At this point, WDS should indicate whether the programming was successful. If unsuccessful verify good connection at DLC, good power and ground to VSM, self-test VSM, re-boot WDS and reattempt the procedure.
NGS CLASSIC OR NGS+ PROCEDURE

NOTE: NGS CLASSIC USERS START AT STEP 2 WITH LATEST LEVEL GREEN SERVICE CARD. NGS+ USERS START AT STEP 1.

Select Diagnostic Data Link, VSM, Module Configuration Programming.
Select Programmable Module Installation.
Select VSM if prompted to select a module.
Select Retrieve Backup Data.
Enter "4253" for Security Code Number.
Enter VIN if prompted.
Enter Vehicle Data (As Built data can be obtained at the professional technician society (PTS) website or at www.motorcraft.com).
Enter the VSM Data from As Built, starting with C1-01, press "STORE".
Select "YES" when asked "DOES THE AS BUILT DATA LIST C1-02?".
Enter 6010 0000 0033 for Regular and Super Cab, or enter 2010 0000 00F3 for SuperCrew into C1-02 data, press "STORE".
Enter the VSM Data from As Built, into C1-03, press "STORE".
Select "NO" when asked "DOES THE AS BUILT DATA LIST C1-04?".
Select "RESTORE MODULE CONFIG-NEW ECU". At this point NGS should indicate whether programming was successful. If unsuccessful, verify good connection at DLC, good power and ground to VSM, self-test VSM, and clear codes, cycle the key and reattempt the procedure.

they show the key pad in the picture, but when you go to catalog to look it up they show only a wireless key pad, the picture even shows a loom going to it but says loom is not applicable! The wireless keypad is now obsolete from Ford 12-14-06.

so now back to the drawing board, let me check into the handles for the F150 and see if they will work on the F250.

Just a thought you can add keyless entry and use key fobs, maybe you would be interested in that?

hey thanks for all the help. thankfully this is an old thread so i do not feel as bad hijacking it.

Im in the chicagoland area. Its a bummer that nothing is going to work. not even the stick on kind will work? I already have the fob and keyless, it came that way. It even has the door code on a card in the glovebox but just no keypad. very strange. also mine is an 03 f-250 superduty.

Thanks again for all the help!
