well after making a trip out to a local junkyard--read paradise this is-- this guy only deals with old stuff, from 1923 to 1980, domestic rear drive only, so i saw alot of 61-66 fords out there, the one i am lookin at getting is a 64 3/4 ton 4x4 with a big block-assuming 352 with a four speed and a closed knuckle dana 60 front, also had some kinda propane crap on it, dont know bout that but the truck was pretty clean, had a flat bed on him, gonna prolly get this truck after my rotation to iraq, been kickin myself in the butt for gettin rid of my 66 a couple years ago, sure miss that truck, so i am gonnna get another soon, keep yalll posted
lucky, The 352 wasn't introduced until 65. Don't know what you want to do with it after purchase, but the pre 65s and the 66 back 4X4s will limit you severly on creature comfort upgrades. 65 & up 2wd are all bolt up.
Sounds like a pretty cool truck. I have suffered from seller's remorse more than once and can understand your desire to replace what you got rid of. Most importantly, though, be safe in Iraq and thank you for your service.
For my 2 cents, I believe the 65 & 66 models offer a lot more potential. And if I just hadda have a 4X4, I'd start with A 73-79 AND NOT A 64. I Had a 62 F-250 4x4 with a 292 "Y" Block, back in the day, & it was nothing like the 73-79s are in any way at any time. I'd fit a "Slick" Body on a later 4X4 Frame before I'd run a pre 65again.
