Looking to add clearance light to my 2004 F250, super car, short bed, diesel. Would like to install a set of factory clearance lights, has anyone done this and how much of a pain is it.
I just had my 250 outfitted with clearance lights. I bought an OEM full kit off of eBay for $95.00. And by kit I mean someone put all the components together because you cannot buy "kits" from Ford.. they only sell the seperate components which are the actual lights ($5.85 each), wiring harness ($39.99, and mounting nuts ($2.00 each -- you need ten for five lights). Ford dealerships around here will not touch installation of those lights so they recommended me to a highly regarded local camper dealer around here and they installed for $135. I would love to have done it myself but I have a problem drilling into the top of my truck... plus they had a template at the camper place which made drilling the holes really easy. I bet these templates would sell fast if commercialized with the demand for clearance lights!! I'll post pics of the job soon, but they did an immaculate job!! They look so good!
I installed the clearance lights myself. I bought a set of Pacer lights for about $50 online. The Pacer model is 20-235 for late model Ford trucks.
The install is really not difficult. More time consuming because you have to remove the headliner and allow it to drop down so you can have access to the bare roof. Also, I used my own wiring. You only need a single wire that is connecting each fixture because the negative is grounded to the body. I ran the wire and spliced it to the parking lights wire so that when I turn the light switch on the first notch, the clearance lights all light up with the rest of the parking lights on the truck. There was another thread posted here on FTE on this subject and with pic's I believe.
I have the loom and 2 lamps in stock. can order 3 more.

Thanks for the info Ed! Ready to order, but people are talking about nuts that Ford sells for $2 apiece. Are these included in the assembly or something that can be had at the local nut store? 2 bits seems a little pricy for a nut. Thanks again!
Definitely go for them. They look awesome at night. Not to mention the added safety factor not only at night but in bad weather. You are alot more visible.

I don't see any nuts in picture, but i'm sure hardware store will work fine if you need them.
