I reuse the bolts whenever I pull a tranny out, but if you do this MANY times then it would be a good idea to eventually buy new bolts. Everytime you torque down a bolt you STRETCH the bolt, this stretching is what actually clamps the two peices your are bolting together. After a while you get the bolt to a point where it won't stretch and either it will snap or it just won't hold the torque that you apply to it. Thats why when you pull heads off of a truck you ALWAYS use new bolts because they get torqued so much that you run the risk of not being able to correctly retorque the old bolt. I've also had wheel lugs get to the point where they just back off and won't stay tight because I always used to use an impact on them and just cranked em as tight as i could...........not a good idea.
remove the tranny dust shield, turnthe torque convertor till you see the 1/4" bolt directly overhead in the center of the convertor, after you drain put some pipe dope on the bolt threads and torque
Removed 3 bolts for shield but the damn cover wouldnt come off...Only got to drain 1/2 out. Almost seemed like top part of shield was being pinched somewhere
sorry I thought you talking about actually pulling the whole TC off......I thought that seemed like a real pain just to change the fluid. yea a drain plug can be reused as many times as ya want......get a new one when ya lose it or it leaks
