Vacuum problem

I recently installed the CCS100 cruise control on my 06 2.3L. Took the first long trip today. It worked fine on the way down but on the way home with the ac running had a few problems. The ac switched from vents to defrost and the cruise would start falling off after 15-20 miles. I could shut if off for a few miles and it would be mine for the next 15-20 miles. It was hilly though. It does have a resoivor and I put the "t" on the right side.. i'm sure of that. I'm going to check for leaks but it worked perfectly on the way down. Has anybody else had any problems?

You're right about it being a leak somewhere in the climate control vacuum system.

Come to think of it I bet it is in the climate control. Lately even though it's off I'll start feeling heat or cool air out of blue. Didn't think of it at the time but I bet the two problems are related. Now I have to find a schematic and probably take off the wheel well to find the problem... doesn't sound like a enjoyable experience. I didn't cut around any of the hoses so hopefully it's just loose.

I would also take another look at the connection where you put the T.

Also, a bad check valve in the reservoir might cause the same type of symptoms.

Well I sprayed FI cleaner around most of the vacuum lines and nothing. So either the leak is elsewhere or it's something else. I've noticed it will idle real low out of the blue and stumble on occasion, bad mpg also 26mpg lately. Will a bad check valve cause that? Is it in the reservoir or on the vacuum line itself? Halfway between the manifold and reservoir there's something that resembles a check valve. Is the check valve even needed? I know the cruise I put on the Aspire didn't have a checkvalve between the manifold and reservior.

My guess is that the check valve is integral to the reservoir. That's how it is on my '98.

Just to clarify, does the problem (air flow switching from vent to defrost) occur if you have the crusie control off?

After I shut off the cruise it didn't act up. I haven't needed the ac lately but I didn't have any problems last summer.

If the problem doesn't occur while the cruise control is off, then it's gotta be something in the cruise system itself. I don't know what the kit consists of but whatever you installed with respect to vacuum needs to be looked over again.

Regarding same, how did you verify that you placed the "T" in the correct vacuum line?

My 06 3.0 did the same thing, took it to the dealer and after 2 days of testing they replaced the back line that went into the climate control. Been fine ever since, knock on wood.

I put the "t" where the line for the climate control plugs into the resoirvor. That same line was awfully close the manifold but I sprayed it also. Do know why they had to replace the hose?

They said when i was accelerating, the pressure was moving the hose which would make it switch to defrost.

Interesting thats what mine was doing. I haven't noticed it lately.. today i'll check the defrost vents though to make sure. I'm going to hook up my mightyvac and test vaccum on the cruise control to make sure it holds, on the engine itself and the climate control. I keep forgetting I have that.
