OK , how many plan to attend the "Run to the Rock" at Lake Lure /Chimney Rock NC on Oct 13-15 ? I plan to go , even if my truck wont be ready . How can we recognize other members/posters there ? I hope the run is a success so it will become an annual (or more often) event again like it was before.Thanks.
Sent my Registration off Wednesday and just got off the phone with the Geneva making a reservation for Friday night. If you see this truck I'm there.
My name is Donald Walker. You live in the area why are the run of the mill motels even 110 - 120 on Friday - Sunday? Is Asheville that popular of a tourist attraction? Just curious compared to Nashville on a weekend. I should arrive about uh 3:00 pm or so Friday evening.
Asheville is a MAJOR tourist destination, especially for the leisure life crowd! Biltmore Estate, gateway to Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mts, close to the Indian Casinos, Wineries. Fall is the busiest season as GNW says the scenery is some of the best in the east. Bumper to bumper motorhomes in no hurry to go anywhere and afraid to take the twisties with their land barges any faster than walking speed.
Gracie won't yet be ready to travel by then, maybe next year.
We'll be making our own run to the "Rock" the following weekend tho: Rockingham Dragway for the IHRA World Finals where we will be cheering for our friend Mike Janis to win his 4th ProMod World Championship!
I went to the Run to the Rock today. Not a large turnout , but a nice event. I hope it grows & hope my truck will be there next year. It was nice meeting Donald Walker ( tacson). I hope you had a safe trip home.
Thom it was nice meeting you as well. I got home about 8:00 CST. I left at 1:30 CST. I got back to Knoxville and had problems with the ventilation tube on my fuel filler neck. SO I couldn't refuel. 190 miles from home that sucks. I went to another station same problem. I pulled the nozzle neck out some and pumped slow. Took a while but I got it. Stopped about 80 miles from home andtired another station had no problem. I agree the show was nice. Maybe next year the crowd will be better. I forgot to take pictures so I wont be posting any. STAY in touch.
