is this turbo worth 200$ thats what i can get it for, and its 1.10A/R and .084 a/r exhaust garet GTP38 turbo, can any of you guys chim in and let me know if that would be a good upgrade for my 2001 f250 i know its from the older psd , ot he had in older psd..... can this go to mine is it worth it?
i know not much about thoe things, so can you guys help,,,
I think the one they market specific to the PSD is the GTP38R with a 1.0 A/R
I'm not well versed enough to tell you in detail the difference that the size would make but price wise, the 38R retails around 1700 bucks so 200 seems like a deal if it isnt seized up or something.
You say it came out of another PSD? I'm not sure I'm following what you wrote. I'll leave it at that until someone less ignorant arrives to chime in.
i know nothing about that stuff, at all, so i dont know if this is a deal or not, and would it fit my truck without problem, i dont know , thats why i posted here, the best place to do so,,
tanks for reply TwelveAlpha im sure more guys wil help
thanks again
that turbo is the same thats on your rig, its from 99.5-2003 7.3's the early99 had the same turbo that obs rigs which is a non wastegated 1.15 ex and intake.
with how much garbage went through that turbo i bet its trashed the intake housing is probabbly so sand blasted out the impeller clearance would be way too much.
upgrades for your rig are the van turbo, gtp38r (ball bearing) the turbonetics, or and h2e are the first that come to mind.
thanks barebackjake thats all i wanted to know, im no expert in this , i can fix anyTV set but know nothing about turbo, i know the principal of working but nothing beyound that

i beg to differ on that first part. that turbocharger is from an early 99 truck. the small compressor side, the "wicked wheel" type compressor wheel, and the wastegated exhaust housing all go to show that it is not a 99.5+ turbo, and the OBS trucks didn't use a wastegate, hence no canister.
i do agree with the fact that it is severely dusted, that compressor wheel is sad looking, to put it nicely. do not get it, it is a DOWNGRADE from what you have now. a Ball-bearing GTP38R turbo or a 1.15 exhaust housing turbo such as a van-turbo, (E-series van) or a 1.15 exhaust housing upgrade for what you have now would suit you much better.
