SES on pulled code P1131 but think they had me replace wrong part! Help!
Hi all, about 2 weeks ago my SES light on my 2002 Explorer XLT came on, and started to bog down on me at stops, took it into the Ford garage, they ran the diagnostic and $50 later they tell me they pulled a P1131 and P0401, said I needed a new O2 Sensor (downstream), IAC, and DPFE Sensor After getting a $650 estimate to replace these three parts I said, H*ll no I would try to find out where they were and replace them myself.
Went Autozone and told them what I needed, they said they could run the code and see what they got, it came back with P1131 and the guy said that could mean "any one" of the three parts. So I replaced the O2 downstream, DPFE, and cleaned the IAC, reset computer. SES came back on, Cleaned MAF, reset.... SES back on.... I checked the EECV Error Codes, and it said the P1131 code meant - O2 Sensor (Upstream) Bank 1... Did the guy at the Ford garage tell me the wrong O2 sensor?? Whick on is bank 1, the one I replaced was under the driverside door.
Checked the EECV for the P0401 code came back Lack of EGR Flow, was told that could be due to a bad DPFE valve... replaced DPFE......SES still on, Anyone have any input for this...Help?
that damn 1131 code can be hard as hell to diagnose, even at the dealer. that code gets thrown on my 97 after i drive it for a 100 miles or more and during hot weather. it goes away after the truck cools down and is driven for short trips, so i dont really worry about it. i recently drove 200 miles and it didnt come on, but it was during 80 degrees or less weather so im assuming the heat has something to do with it. i live in AZ so its routinely 110+ out.... dont really know what to tell you. 1131 sounds like a "throw parts at it until its fixed" code.... especially at the dealer. jharger would be able to tell you if that was the right o2 sensor, he knows that stuff. did you replace the EGR valve? i replaced mine along with the steel hose that it connects to just to do it since it was all rusted and leaking out of a hole punctured in the hose (never had a CEL on because of it tho, just loud rasping during acceleration)
