Disconnect batteries?

I have a 2000 F250 SD SC AT. Does the truck learn from driving habits and set shift and power parameters, etc? If I disconnect the batteries for a few minutes will it go back to the original specs? No real problems just seems to be shifting early causing a little lack of power. Thanks for any input.

As far as I know the learning parameter's really aren't for driving style, but more for specific engine sensor inputs and tolerances.

I'm not 100% sure on that one, maybe 99%.

The tranny will learn shift patterns. I would recommend a BTS valve body or a sonnax/Tricum shift kit to firm her up a bit.

FYI, it takes 72 hours for the ECU to re learn new paramatters, so if driven conservative, under 2K rpm you may increase MPG. says ford technician.

as far as disconnecting batteries, just disconnect the negetives? both? and fireing up the headlights after the batteries are unplugged? and is it a good idea to do it after every engine modification?

Well, the only reason I said that is because the PCM relearning post has been on here some time ago. One poster vehemently claiming that the PSD cannot relearn. I believe it is because of the type of program, not being a closed loop, non OBDII compliant etc, but that was his position. (Remember, a standard OBD scanner wil likely not pull PSD codes).
We never resolved it but I would think that there would have to be some adaptability or there would be no need for all of those sensors. Of course if the program is a simple if-then one, then it can learn but it would be dependant on the amount of what-then that the computer is capable of doing. Still awaiting final resolution from this with some concrete facts, not just because "I said so".
I guess I may stumble across something on my shop DVD someday. Have I mentioned that I highly recommend that DVD?

I have responded to my own post because it occurred to me that someone like Jody at DP Tuner might have some insight to this puter program issue. I would think that folks that alter factory tunes would be in the know about the actual programming and the ability to learn.

If the stock PCM is a simple if-then and that is it, it will not relearn, just perform IAW a lookup table. That is not learning. But neither is it in other systems with the exception that the lookup table is more robust with a greater latitude in adjustment capability.

OK, I have bored even myself. I just figured that if the stock puter and program were that lame, there would have been a better mouse trap on the market by now.
