Anyone ever use A byepass valve on our set up? With my DP F5 on both the 80hp and 120hp settings I get a loud squeel out of the turbo when I let off the gas, would a blow off valve help protect the turbo from overboost?
My wastegate is currently disconnected, my actuator wasnt working properly.
Strokin_it was nice enough to send me his old one, havent got a cance to put it on yet so I am not sure it that will fix the squeeling or not.
Boost is hitting about 28#'s
The noise you hear on decceleration/shifting is unused boost blowing back through the intake. It does it in stock form too, but its easier to hear when you have an open intake like the 6637 you have.
On a diesel there is no need for a blow-off valve because there is no throttle plate.
28 lbs isn't gonna hurt anything, that sounds about right for wastegate disconnected.
The options Pocket listed will increase performance but won't eliminate the whoosh sound when you back out of the throttle/shift gears.
powrstrkn, its not the whoosh sound, I like that sound. It sounds similiar to when a transmission slips, schreak/squeel. Kinda like the turbo cavatates, for lack of better description. Only under heavy throttle, not necessarily at wot, usually when it shifts into OD or when I let off the gas. It will even do it at 21-22#'s
