injectors and economy

This is that last one for the day I promise.
I currently have Stage II injectors in right now, Fuel milage seemed to stay flat after the install. Right about 17.5. It recently went down to 15, So I aired up my mud terrains back up to 60 from like. . . 25. We'll see what happens. But This setup really isn't tuned yet. It still smokes all the time like a sun of a gun, which I'lle vently have fixed, where I can black out a highway when I want to. But how much different will the 530 injectors be driving sanely? I would figure, with the proper tuning, they would get substancially better economy because of the nature of the injector, being larger, atomizing fuel better. Any thoughts/ comments?

The 530's aren't designed for economy or smoke control. Even with a larger charger than you have it's hard not to blow a lot of smoke. By nature the larger turbos have lag in spool up, this is when you will get the smoke. The only way to tone it down is programing. Keep in mind when you take fuel from the bottom you will get more lag. I don't know who's chip you have but I would check with them to see if anything can be done, I don't think an injector change is the answer unless the ones you have are not made correctly. Who's injectors are they?

This is a little off subject but what is needed to upgrade my injectors. Nothing to extreme but just to get some more power. Can i run them with my stock turbo? would i be able to run my edge evo? which injectors would be best for just some added power, like i said nothing to extreme.

You can run up to a stage II split shot with the tuner. To get the most you should have a chip with custom tunes for the injectors. Stage I's would probably be a better choice. The tuner will request too much ICP and the stock HPOP will not keep up and keep throughing a 1211 code. Give Larry or Pat a call here http://www.discountpowerparts.com/ and tell them I sent you. I'm all hypermax. I can keep the smoke down if I wind it up a bunch, but I dont' always like to do that. I like to use the diesels low end power, but if I do now, its just a crazy smoke show. What I'm asking is if the 530's with a chip that has a detuned setting on it, whether that will keep the smoke down. I want a setting thats economy, and very little smoke. I figured with the better hydraulic to fuel ratio of the 530's, that they would be more suited to do it, and have obviously more power.

The 530 flow more fuel and will make it worse. When you changed injectors and turbo you changed the power band of the engine. Where it used to make peak power at 2200 it now makes it at 2600. You can't drive it the same way, it's not the same. Change your driving habbits to fit the engine, you built it for more power just use it.

Yeah you raise a good point Kevin, I've just heard of lots of people with the bigger injectors that are able to detune them with the use of somebody's flip chip. So I need guys with the 530's to tell me what they're running as far as chip, and how their different settings run.
