The Abs Light Just Went On, Now The Speedometer Only Works When You Reach 35 Mph Or Faster, Also The Overdrive Light Blinks On And Off Until You Reach 35 Mph. Is This A Sensor Or Is It Something Else?
hey what year is ur truck? though i dont share all the same problems u do, i do though have the blinky light problem with the overdrive. iv heard it could be the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) but im unsure of where that is. so hopefully some others will post some ideas to solve this problem.
sounds easy to replace, anyone done it before and could breefly discribe the steps to replaceing this part? thanks.. i feel it may solve my problem as well.
To replace it you go to the rear diff and you will see a part above the driveshaft yoke that has an electrical connector going into it. Pull the connector, unbolt the sensor, pull sensor out, install new sensor, put bolt back in, reinstall connector. All done
hey can a programmer like the edge A2 be able to scan the problem? i thought i read some where that it will read error codes? or am i wronge? along with all its other goodies, it looked like a good unit?
but about the flashing light, it dosent do it all the time, maybe only 50 percent of the time.
because it shifts just fine when i push the button, but its just that some times the light feels like flashing? rather then staying on when i turn it on and off when i turn it off. so im not sure if mechanicly everything is fine and the sensor is just acting up some times or what?
i supose ill try looking under the truck and find that sensor wire and clean it or atleast check it.
truck seems to drive, and shift fine. just the light flashes when it feels like it. push the button once and it shifts, push it again and it shifts again. i take it when the OD is on it allows the tranny to shift into 4th right, and when u push the botton again to turn it off it puts the trany back into third right?
could it be a slipping TC? though it dosent feel like the TC is slipping at all. what are some usual signs of a slipping TC? but im going to look into that sensor over the rear axle as well.
I dont know what the usual signs. I would assume that a slippin TC would feel just like a slipping clutch in a manuel when the TC is locked. Try getting codes read it might just be something small.

I replaced my rearend too. Mine detonated the bearing and scrapped everything but the carrier. Melted sensor too. Now I continued another 40 miles in 2 hours because I was in the middle of nowhere Nevada and had a trailer with me. Cost in Reno was 1026 with all new bearing, seals, dropped labor and new updated gears. According to the rebuild guy the diff in these trucks have inferior bearing from china in them, I guess he has see alot in his time. Uncles did the same.
