my old truck 72 f100 4x4 has gone to leaking brake fluid all from the rear of the master (front brakes) all over the inside of my cab. i just this past weekend went and picked up several pieces of a 79 f150 to include the entire front axle master cylinder vacume boost thing proportioning valve and all front brake lines. my question is what do i have to modify to use the vacume boost or should i just use the new master and proportioning valve? my truck is manual everything. thanks in advance for any help.
Proportioning valve, booster, master (since your is bad anyways), and I would replace the steel and rubber lines. You also need the tabs that bolt to the frame at the front to hold the rubber lines to the calipers. Since you are significantly increasing the pressure in the brake system, I would also replace the steel and rubber lines at the rear, to prevent blowing one of those out.
I have heard, and cannot confirm it right yet, but the pedal assembly pivot point was different for manual and power brakes, so your brakes might be a bit on the touchy side.
