Does anyone know what kind of tool I need to remove the plug on the side of the thermostat housing to install a by-pass coolant system? It's square shape and it's not a 3/8" socket or 1/4". BTW it's a 2002 PSD

I had same problem. Take a cheap short 3/8 extension and grind it square so it will fit. Worked great for me. Quick and easy!
I went to several auto parts/ tool places today and nobody has a 5/16" square 'tool' to remove the plug. Why did they use a plug you couldn't find a common tool to remove it with?
