Hi guys. I have a 2000 F150 4x4 withg a 5.4 liter engine. Right now my exhaust consists of a custom true dual pipes system (with cats) through glasspack mufflers. I want to make my truck lounder, and headers are out of the option. I didnt know if i should go with taking the cats off, swapping the glasspacks for flowmaster 40s, or what. Any advice is helpful.
Well, if you want it louder the best and probably cheapest way would be for your local muffler shop to cut the mufflers out and weld in a pipe. That should open her up for you. Changing mufflers shouldn't make a huge difference like a striaght pipe would.
Thanks for the tip. I've heard that there is a special way the straight pipe can be attached so the mufflers can be put on and taken off for emissions. Is anyone familiar with this? It sounds like the way to go for me.
I have a 2001 F150 with a 5.4 and straight pipes , it sounds good and loud, but I want it louder. I heard you could take the back two cats off and run those mil iliminators to keep the check engine light from coming on, but I wonder if it is going to make my truck run bad. any advice fellows
I was going to get straight pipes for my fx4.... is there any particular way to split into duals out of the cat? the stock pipe behind the tire is 2.75", and i was thinking stainless steel 3" tips, but should I stick with 2.75" pipes out to the tips, or run 3" all the way through? thanks for the help.
