Transmission problems
I have a 2000 f-150 5.4 triton. I had a new tranny put in last Nov. It is now shifting hard again. It will go up to 4000 rpms before it will shift. I am thinking it is possiably a sensor, but not sure. The fluids are clean and do not smell burnt.....any help would be appriciated.

I have seen the shift accumulater pistons stick. If that is what is going on you will need to remove the valve body in the transmission to make repairs. Have you needed to add transmission fluid to the transmission since the replacment? What type of oil did you use in the transmision? Might check to see if a warrenty is still good. Does the light on the gearshift lever flash? Have you had the truck scanned for codes yet. If all else fails, you might add some transmision oil-additive. Might also be a sticking solinoid as well. Not much help, but a few things to roll around.

If you are having the same problem with a new trans that you had with the old one, does it not seem that the problem is not in the trans. I would suspect the truck computer, or a sensor feeding info to the computer. I agree a trip to Autozone for a code readout seems like a good idea.
