so I am about to get some Autometer guages for my '97 F250 5spd and I'm not sure what to get. I think I'm gonna get the C2 style guage but am not sure whether to get one with a 1600* sweep or a 2000* sweep for the pyrometer and then a boost guage with 30, 35, or 60 psi. sweep. And then I was wandering where is the best place to get a 2 guage pillar pod. any imput is greatly appreciated
I am going to be cutting the cat and muffler out in a couple weeks and want to see what kind of difference it makes on egt's. I have already put a kwik filter on it and it had a 3" downpipe on it when I bought it.
1600 deg is plenty. You should never see above that. For the boost gauge..unless your planning on some extreme mods, either the 30 or the 35 psi will work fine. For a pillar pod, I would recommend calling Dale @ Tymar performance.
If you ever see 1600 degrees on the Pyro your engine is toast.
The larger increments on the shorter scale, 1600 degrtees sweep, is easier to read with accuracy.
Many gauges dont read accurately as they approach their operating limits. Some mods will allow you to approach and even surpass 30 lbs of boost so the 35 lb sweep is the least you want if you are going to mod and 40 would not be unrealistic. That way you will stay within the accurate operating range.

well let me just say that in the way of mods it will be sometime next year till I can really start doing much but I eventually will put at least stage 1's in it with Tony Wildman chip, complete 4" exhaust system, sd hpop and obviously a south bend clutch probably con ofe unless I actually put the stage 2's in it then the con fe. and all of the little things that go along with those mods.
so as you can see my truck will have a lot of mods eventually but some of them may be a couple years down the road
