Would a five speed mated to a 361 FE Block fit a 292 Y block? And nothing about this is in the wrong section, because the FE section probaly doesn't know anything about a Y Block.

Nathan Do you mean a 360 FE?? No it will not bolt up. The FE has a round top bell. If you can mate the tranny to the Y bell it might work.

What five-speed have you got? I'm looking to replace my NP435 (behind a 360) with one. If it doesn't fit your application would you want to sell it?

He might mean the truck engine used in big trucks, I think those are very similar to the 360 in displacement. Not sure if these were true FE blocks but it was a family of engines 330, 361, 392 if I'm not mistaken.

That was the reason for the question. The 330,359, 361, 389, &391 engines were FTs instead of FEs, but I didn't know if it was a typeo or not.

Nathan, I think you can. If memory serves me correctly, the 292 Yblocks share the same bell pattern as the FE/FTs and the MEL engines. You might very well have to make you own trans mounts, but if I am right about the bell patterns, then the rest should be easy. DF
