Hi, guys. Noob here. I just did a search, and couldn't find the information I wanted, so I'm going to risk a new thread.
I've got a 2003 F350 4X4 diesel. It's in need of new brakes. So far, I haven't seen a Chilton's manual for this year, or I'd have bought one first. Anyway, the other threads seem to indicate that brakes are straightforward on this truck. However, there's still some stuff I'd like to clear up:
Are '03 brakes the same as other years?
What is the proper torque spec for reassembly?
I get a little pulsing in the pedal under heavy stopping. Given that people seem to recommend against turning, is this something I can live with, should I turn anyway, or get new (NAPA) rotors?
Also, for rotor removal, are there any 'gotchas' I should know about?
With 65,000 miles, I was planning on flushing the brake fluid. Anything special I should know?
I've done brakes on my motorcycles, my old '79 F250, and did a crappy rebuild job on my '68 Dart once. Given this level of skill, is there any general info I should have?
Your rotors may a bit larger than my f250, so I could be off on your application. The rotor/pad is straight forward, I did mine with out my chiltons. The calipers ride on pins, so inspect the pin boots and clean/apply never seaze to the pins. Once your have the calipers off, you may need to tap the rotor with a rubber mallet, but it should slip on off the wheel lugs. Torque spec is very tight, they were difficult to get off my 02, I could get an impact gun on it to loosen them. I had to hold my mouth just right and jump on my breaker bar to loosen the pins.
The vibration is more than likely rotor run out, if it's only under hard braking it might be ok. New rotors are never a bad thing, unless you buy cheap/poor quality ones.
I'm doing front brakes on a 2002 F-250. It appears that one of the caliper slide pins has rusted and stuck. I put the caliper bracket in a vise and spent a long time tapping and banging to try to free it but it won't budge. It looks to me like I'll have to replace the entire caliper bracket and both slide pins. Can anyone tell me about part numbers? I called a dealer and they said the pins only come with the brake pad] kit. WTF is that all about? I don't get it. Unless Ford wants you to replace the slide pins when you do pads. I had the dealer fax me the page in the parts book but it also doesn't make sense to me. Any suggestions?

This could be from the slide pins. So I included a link for detailed instructions...
The links have pictures and detailed instructions with part #'s and torque specs. It will give you what you are after...and so much more for future reference.
It is always a good idea to have the rotors checked if replacing the brake pads. If they are within spec...they can be milled (turned), and if not replaced.

i had to use a torch to get my slide pins out i melted the rubbers and then beat the pins out , got the pads at advance auto parts and they had the pins to i think

somewhere on this site i read exactly that, you are suppose to replace the slide pins when you do a brake job on a superduty.
I am trying to remove my rear rotors, I have the caliper off, do I now need to remove the four bolts that I see behind the hub so that the rotor can come off?

No (as long as you're talking about a 1999+ SD) you just need a BFH and a wood block if your worried about ruining the rotor. Beat, beat and then beat again and they'll come off.
