I don't know about the interchangeablity of those manifolds, but others here will.
However, regarding performance, the most common mistake made with carburation is to over-carburate. A 4 barrel carb on a stock 239 will make it a real dog. It will make the performance worse. It will suck a lot more gas, also. My advice: stick with the 2 barrel.
If you want improved performance, improve breathing efficiency. The best way to do this is to match port the intake and add match-ported headers. Cleaning up the head ports to smooth them is also a good move. Once that is done, then you could look at adding carb cfm, but a longer duration cam will be needed to maximize the larger carb performance.
