Can anyone help troubleshoot a power door lock problem? The problem is happening on both doors using either power door lock switch. When you try to lock or unlock the doors using either switch, you can hear it try to move, but very little movement occurs. Repeated attempts to actuate the locks results in weaker mechanism movement? Anyone know if this is the actuator(s) themselves or something else? I find it odd that both would be malfunctioning at the same time to the same degree. Thanks for any help. Lou.
My 2000 F-150 had the same problem with the door locks, but they didn't both go out at exactly the same time. The drivers side went out first and then about 2 months later, the passenger side went out. I ended up buying two new door lock actuators and I put them in myself. It took me about 4 hrs.
I bought the actuators from a Ford Dealership and they costed about $75 a piece!! I recommend maybe try buying them off ebay or somewhere else where they may be cheaper.

Did the replacement have any tricky parts in the process or is it pretty straight-forward? Thanks for responding. Lou

I used aftermarket actuators on my 00 f150 I got from a local audio and alarm shop for $15. U have to relocate the actuators but work as well as the OEM. took about an hour to decide where to put it. 15 min. to install.
