Steering column lower bearing
I've got a new borgeson shaft, and I went high crossover steering with a box from a 79 f250 that goes inside the frame. Artec steering arms and went though All the kingpins and made anything new that wasn't perfect.
I want it to feel like a new truck with the steering, and the last piece I could think to replace is this bearing. I've looked at old threads, and I couldn't understand exactly where to go.
Any helps guys?
Here is a mockup if you will, just using whatever i had around to take place of the tie rod and drag link, and a C-clamp to hold the box in place
In case anyone was wondering, fender exit headers are the answer...
I had to cut up the engine crossmember a little to set the steering box back where i wabted, and to make room for the pitman arm. This truck only has 1 3/4" lift so its all tight
Started plating it back in
this job is no fun with the engine installed

The lower steering column bearing retainer got the plastic outer piece that hold it in the end of the column with the three tabs.

This is the part Bronco graveyard shows (link in mikeo0o0o0 post #3), but you can buy the bearing by itself, if you don't need the retainer:
