On my 06 superduty the blue rubber hose connecting the intercooler to the tube is always leaking. I have tighten the clamp up several times but it is always tight. The dealer says they all seep oil there and theres nothing they can do about it. I have took the thing completely apart and cleaned it and it still always seeps oil. How can it leak if the thing is tight?
Yes, they all seem to bleed from the intercooler duct boots like that. My 04 always bleeds a little from there, too. My usual six month washdown of the engine seems to keep it from doing anything on the ground. I can't say for sure, but it looks to me like it seeps right through the boot, which appears to be some sort of fabric that's been treated with a silicone rubber. It doesn't look like it slips through the fittings, anyway.
The bleeding problem is a bit more noticeable on the 6.0 because the crankcase is vented into the air intake rather than through a draft tube. Some folks modify the CCV system and convert it to road draft. As long as the clamps aren't loose, the hoses don't usually back off the fittings. It mostly just looks bad.
The same thing happens on other engines. I've seen semis and even tractors with dirt and oil on those same type of boots as well. The harder you work them, the more they seem to bleed, too.
