Diff lockers for F250

I have a 95 F-250 7.3 with an open differential. Well, what can I say, I get stuck on a snowflake, absolutely no traction on any sort of wet grass, or snow. I have read on other forums the use of lockers( and limited slip diffs. My ideal solution would be to add a mod with an electronic locker, flip a switch and the diff locks up, flip it again and its off. That is really all I need.

"Lockers come in two forms: The always-on, or full time locker, and the selectable locker, like ARB, Eaton, etc... When you turn on a selectable, it is locked, when off, it performs like an open differential, giving all power to the tire with the least traction."

Has anyone added anything like this to their truck? How much money? How much work? Any info would be great. Or should I really be posting this to a different forum?

thanks in advance
db

I think barebackjake has lockers. Don't know what kind, but maybe he can help you.

first off just so you know you are looking at about $1000 per axle if you pay someone to do the work of setting the gears and all. that includes the locker, compressor, install kit.

ARB's are hard to beat and they have been around a while, however they do require some sort of air source. and compressors to get air to them seem to run pretty expensive. an ARB setup (before gettin it in your axles) would prolly run you no less than $900-$1000. then you figure (depending on quality of shop you take it to) it could run you $300-$800 to install dependin on how long it takes them to install and setup.

you might look in the E-Locker. they use an elec solenoid to engage the locker and last i looked they were a couple hundred bucks less. a wheelin buddy of mine runs an e-locker in his front axle and it is so nice to reach over and flip the switch and get instant traction!

if you pull heavy trailers or bed loads or like to power through curves do NOT put an auto (only true auto locker i know of is the detroit) locker in the rear axle. they will act squirrely and can get to be dangerous esp if it is icy on the roads.
