Looking for recommendations on what type of headers to put on my 65 F250. It's a work truck, stock 352, no high rpm needed. Torque is what I'm after.
While I'd like to have some of those $4-500 ceramic coated's that's not quite in the budget! I just want something that doesn't cook the starter and frees up the exhaust.
Thought I put a crossover pipe on it too.
Mufflers?
Bill, Headers tend to be started killers by design. If I ever use them again (I can't see the benefit) they would be cast iron shorties. Sanderson offers shorties but are pricy.
A good set of duals, with crossover will be the best money spent for your work truck. Those trucks don't do bad with single exhaust.

In the cool still quite of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
Stans makes several nice sets of Tri-Y FE headers that go over the starter and leave plenty of room for airflow to keep it cool. John has hookers, I think, and he seems less than happy with them. I would consider headers a must for any FE, because the manifolds are so bad. DF
John, dug up a website on Sanderson. Pretty impressive. 3/8 flange and .060 wall tubing. They recommend shorty's which are probably the best for the starter and clearance in general. I ain't looking for more than 5500 anyway.
A glitch in the website prevented me from getting an actual application number but I found a price list that had plain steel FE headers at $285. That's a bit of a pucker but you get what you pay for most of the time.
DF,I do want some headers. Stock 2bbl 352 right now but I have a Quadrajet that needs a home and the Pertronix ignition seems like a no-brainer. If I ever find a 428 crank and build that 410 I'll need 'em, right? LOL!
So how can I get in touch with Stan's? Haven't searched yet but the name Stan's doesn't sound likely to produce.
