That's funny! The 'webmaster' is Ken Payne and he owns/operates FTE. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I've not been around as long as some of the folks who posted prior to this, but I've seen Ken engage in rather spirited discourse with FTE users and they don't get booted or 'black-flagged'. If you use duragatory language and personally attack another user, you may be considered for termination. I saw the trhread you're referring to and it's very mild compared to what goes on in the FTE Members forum. It's actually quite civil throughout this website and that makes it much more pleasant for everyone.

Now buy a Membership and stay around for awhile!

Kepler4, you brought up a good point (I was tongue-in-cheek about the roadkill stuff---I'm sure Ken is cool...), when you subscribe to membership, don't you get the title "supporter" next to your name?........negates all the "junior", and "senior", and "elder" designations?.......

Maybe it's time I just broke out the credit card and "jined" up........I'll have my F250 for quite awhile yet.......

i only give positive rep points though i've been tempted to do the opposite. not because of the differing opinions, but because i got negative points for a relatively innocent post. it turned out to be a mistake that hasen't been corrected but i'll take a boot in the butt if i deserve one. i just won't give anyone bad points for pI$**ing me off without it being a personal attack on me or mine.

cmpd1781, The Supporter label just shows that you're a paying Member of FTE. The other labels/names, mine says Posting Guru and I'm not a guru of anything, have to do with the users post count.

Reputation points (positive) seem to be given out more this year and I think that's good. We won't get a wage increase or any better looking, but it's nice to recognize fellow Ford Truck Enthusiasts for their contributions. I won't lose any sleep if I don't get any more, but I'll continue to give them out. The thread Jake linked to got into some issues between other users, but hey, all families are at least a little dysfunctional!

Oh come one what do you want more green boxes for, I think it just makes you a bigger target.<a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253F partner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxdm824BXUS%2526i%253D8% 252F8%255F5%255F2%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_5_2.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252F nocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egi f%253Fi%253D8%252F8_5_2/image.gif"></a>

But yes I give out rep points too, and I do have to say the original post had me almost falling out of my chair.

One on hand, I understand Pro's stance - do I *really* care what a bunch of random people scattered around the world think of me? Then I think about all the really great people that are a member of this community, and the answer is that I care what some of them think.

If I get rep points for a funny post or a helpful post I've made, I have no problem admitting it makes me feel good.

The system gives different weights to rep point depending on who they come from. You have a number of rep points - if someone like Pro gives you positive reputation, it's worth a lot more than someone who just joined. So I think the system does a good job of reflecting reality. If some schmuck comes along and gives me negative feedback over something silly, it doesn't bother me too much. If Ivan gave me negative feedback, I'd have to take a step back and figure out what I did wrong.

Trust me on this one. Feel free to disagree with Ken all you want. He's a reasonable, level-headed guy and isn't going to ban you or otherwise punish you. Ken and I have had prolonged discussions about heated topics and we don't always see eye to eye, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't think any less of me for it.

Now if you get a thread locked for not following the guidelines, he'll lock it and move on. It won't affect your reputation here. The admins here lock threads all the time for getting out of control. It's their job, just forget about it and move on.

Great points Andy

Your post also made me think that I should clarify; I do enjoy the positive words that I get from you folks and I certainly do care about what many of you think. I just wanted to point out to the few folks who get their underwear in a twist over who has more rep than them, that there's better things to stress about
