i have a 1979 ford f150 with a 351m thats pretty stock. the problem im having is with the motorcraft 2150. its just hard to start it. even when its warmed up. takes about a good 4 or 5 seconds for it to start. but after its started, it acts like its load up or something, then clears up and runs fine. its still has all the smog stuff on it. i just need some help with it. Thanks everyone
i just had the same problem w/my straight 6. it did that for a couple weeks, then the diaphragm in the fuel pump kicked the bucket. how old is the pump? that'd be my first guess, fuel pressure bleeding off and starving the engine until the pump starts pumping again
need help with my 1979 f150 that has a 351m. it has a motorcraft 2150 on it. the problem is with the starting. it takes it about 4 or 5 seconds to start, then once its started it stumbles a little. even does this when warmed up. any ideas on how to fix this problem?

ugh check the spark plugs? you sure it isnt skipping? bad spark plugs will do that
also your fuel filter might be dirty, get a new one try that out, and get some carb/fuel injection cleaner all the places sell them, fill your truck up then put that in, that helps even with mpg
check them all, i had the same problem and i switched out my fuel filter havnt had it my truck starts faster than my moms new truck so yea and any of my friends
It's probably boiling the gas out of the carb. Try a 1" phenolic spacer and a carb heat sheild to keep it cool, that should at the very least reduce the problems.
i bought the truck about 6 mouths ago and did lots of work to it. the water pump, all hoses, belts, fuel lines, and new plugs algo with a new fuel pump and fuel filter. plus lots of suspension work. it could be the fuel filter got dirty again, i just thought it was the carb it self causing the problems. and sorry for all of the posts saying the same things, i keep posting in the wrong spots. so thanks for you help, ill try everything you guys listed and see if it works. thanks, also theres pictures of the truck in my profile.
