I just bought a 65 F100 and have been told that it hasa 312 Engine, while the auto parts store said that it has to be a 352. So, I am going to find out for myself. I would like to know where I can go (other than the dealer) to get info from the VIN. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?
Rod, Keep your shirt on, that truck left the factory nearly 40 years ago. Whatever is under the hood could have been changed out several times. There were 3 engines offered in 65, 2 I6s 240 & 300 CID, and one V8 352 CID. The 352 is a FE engine family group and they all have their sparkplugs that look like this \\// the biggest single giveaway. The 390 is the most popular of that family. I just found out that one of my 66s has had one transplanted into it.

This site has vin plate codes, but like jowilker mentioned, the engine may not be correct.
