Ford announced canada plant closing today due to 1.5 billion $ loss and is in a total restructure especially in the SUV and truck arena....I thought the V10 is produced at that facility in Canada ?
yeah, seems to be getting harder to hold on to a good paying job. see below
"The two additional plants to be shut are the Essex engine plant in Windsor, Ont., in 2007 and the Maumee, Ohio, stamping plant in 2008.
That's in addition to previous plans for 14 plant closures, including the Windsor casting plant, currently with 520 employees. Management has identified only nine of the 16 plants to be closed through 2008, and refused to identify any of the others Friday.
But Ford said Friday an assembly plant in Norfolk, Va., will close next year, a year earlier than previously announced. "
It is Essex engine that is closing. They make the 4.2l for the f150 and the Freestar minivan. So it is likely that the f150 will not have the V6 option for 2008 model unless they put another V6 in the F150. The V10 is assembled at the Windsor Engine Plant Annex. The new truck engine that was supposed the be built at Essex Engine will now be built "supposedly" on the V10 assembly line for the 2009 MY. Hopefully they will build both engines on this line and not drop the V10. These are sad times for us Ford workers here in Windsor. Half of our Ford workforce in Windsor will be layoff by this time next year.
seems from union news the only remaining iron casting plant ford will have is the cleveland plant and that one is getting 3 new motors for them that they have not done before, that surely means the v10 as it is still on the line up and is in some of the 08 test trucks right now, the other 2 one just might be the brand new 425 hp hemi chaser
