any one know what the correct torque is on the V10's spark plugs? going to pick up some plugs, and a fuel filter tomrow! i want to make sure i get these things torqued right the first time! i was just going to do what i do to my race truck *snug*snug* and we're done. BUT i think i want to do this one buy the book!
Thanks NOMO good stuff! guessl i'll see how it goes! thanks again!
So...How did it go??? Does the 168 in/lbs on those plugs seem tight? Just curious, because I plan on doing mine in the next few weeks. I am at 92,000 miles...and do not need to chance the scheduled 99,000 mile change.
well it went as great as 100% planned events usually do..............i never got to it! i got the plugs (Autolite Platinum 103's) and the filter, and had other issues come up last weekend. so now i'm just playing it by ear, if i can get to it this weekend (which looks promising) i'll get to crackin!! thanks again for all the help guys!
quick spark plug story.........call the local for dealer, the first one didn't recomend doing a self install by a non"ford trained profesional", and woun't give me a part #! screw that called anouther place, the guy was real nice, only had 6 instock (thought i was going to do it last sat so i wanted them quicker). he told me that Autolite Platinum 103's were the equivilent (as stated here on FTE)! so i went to the "Greatest Store on Earth"- WALMART! had them for $2.97 a pack (includes 2) whitch was about $1.00 less each than the ford dealer even w/ my company discount. our company had an account w/ ford since we do alittle buisness now and again! they wanted about $2.35 ea at ford. hope i get to it this weekend!
weather? when will it stop raining? i have a mild miss fire and am going to go after mine in the 05 with the new type plugs. guess to many dyno pulls helping prove what work and what doesn't work for every one.
The weather couldn't be nicer today, and I found an auto parts store that was not only open, but had TEN of the Autolite XP103 Iridium's IN STOCK! I dashed over and picked them up and started replacing my old ones. It took me about 2 hours in a nice pace going one by one. I took the advice from this forum and had my air compressor ready to blow out each plug hole before removing the old plugs. It was amazing that each and every one had sand/dirt in it. I pretty much zipped through the driver's side as you would imagine, then by the time I got to the passenger side, I was a pro and tackled the last two without too much pain. I also put a little anti-seize on each new one (also learned from this forum) and fired her up. Nice and strong!!! The old ones looked OLD....... no oil or gas on them but just kind of old looking.
Oh, a note...... my plugs had to be turned MANY turns for them to free the threads. I read before that some of them are only threaded like 3-4 turns?? I could be wrong about that, but I was conscious to see how many turns mine had and they were at least like 10 turns in.
Thanks for all of the spark plug change info posted here. It made my first coil over plug replacement a much easier job.
