Hey guys I know there is a website out there that will tell you the differences and it has pictures between the 1964 ford and the 1966 ford I just can't remember what the address is. Can someone please tell me it.
Don't know the exact website, but the Yahoo Slick '60s Ford truck club has a very large photo section with all the member's different 61-66 models. (In yahoo, under "clubs")
Well the reason I wanted to know is that I have a friend that has a Ford F-250 4X4 and he says that it is a '66 but it has all the signs of a 1964. I own a 1966 and for instance under the hood the firewall on his is rounded and mine comes to angles and the step on the driver and passenger side doors is cut in and up on his and mine isn't. I wondered if maybe the 250s or the 4x4's was like this and maybe the f-100's weren't? He swears this is a 1966 but there is alot of differences that mine. He does have a 1966 grill in it though. Please help us clear this up
Thanks
David
A lot of things can be changed in 35+ years Check the VIN on the truck to be sure of the year You can find it on the door tag or on the upper side of the right frame rail bove the axle. The consecutive unit number should be the last six digits of the VIN and it indicates the date of production to the month. Below are some numbers to compare with what you find.
David, if he has a straight front axle, tell him to get over it. In 65 Ford went to the twin I-beam front axles. Some of the other things that you mentioned indicate the truck is a pre 65.

The twin I-beam thing is a 2wd phenomena; I believe that the truck in question is an F250 4wd, if I read the post correctly, so it is not going to be helpful to identify the model year. Look under the dash at the wiring looms for some identification numbers. Get a number from as many places as you can. Post your results here.

4x4 trucks had the rounded inner fenders like all of the 61-64 trucks had. 65-66 2wd had the angled ones. 65-66 4x4's also used the same cab that had the step as the 64's and the 2wd 65-66 had no step. If the grill is a 66 and has the parking lights above the grill, it probably is a 66. It also depends on the engine(unless it was swapped at one time). 61-64 choices were the 223 six and the 292 v8. In 1964 the 262 also became onption but is rare to find. 65-66 had the 240 and 300 six and 352 FE v8. If you can get the vin number and other info off the door tag, that can be decoded and then you can fugure out the correct year.
