hey guys, replaced my stock air cleaner with a homebuilt kit discribed so many times on this forum (6637 mod) about a month ago. ever since, ill go to start her and when i roll the ignition it seems like i have a dead battery. roll it back and it'll go on the next (or 3rd, sometimes 4th) roll. any thoughts??she's also been seemin a bit sluggish since the mod when i put it to the floor. gettin on a steep onramp results in pretty moderate turbo lag and a generous amount of smoke w/ the superchip on top setting. thoughts?
i dont think those are all related issues! it might be time for a couple of new batteries. if those are stock (like the ones in my 96 were) then they are pushing 10 years of hard service! also, check to make sure your GPR is working correctly. if it isnt working then you are cranking your motor with your GP's cold. depending on air temp this could be a good thing or a bad thing!
as to your power... have you cut out your old downpipe? did you upgrade your exhaust pipe?
well, she up n decided not to start today. buyin a gpr tomorrow, then going down the list from there if that doesnt work (batteries, starter....???). boy-o.......
well, this mornin on my way to ford for a gpr, decided what the hell n tried to crank her over and she went first roll. now im really thrown for a loop??? leanin towards batteries now, wuddya think? il probably replace them before winter neway. anybody running those optima spiral cells? any other suggestions?
well, now i feel like an idiot. went to check the batteries for cca specs n come to find the main battery positive cable QUITE loose. shes startin fine now
