you shouldn't need any type of tool the drums on ours truck slide on over the hub and studs. you do need a special socket if you need to remove the hub to replace the seals or bearings but if your just doing brake work no special sockets needed.

No special tools required although there are a couple tools that make removing the springs ect easier. A big hammer comes in handy If you are having a hard time removing the drums, ususally rusted on pretty good.
Unadjust the shoes HERE. Use penetrating oil and Smack the drum in between the studs, then beat then off the axle/hub.

better yet--air chisel--with the blunt nose chisel--and use the ear muffs--and beat between the studs--older gent showed me this--dang!!!!!!!! vibration breaks the rust loose---only had it fail once--on the front discs of a 98 f150--with 140,000 on the clock--and pads only once!!! damg--were they ever stuck--required the use of the blue wrench---
