Went to get a sticker for my truck today and the mechanic was bitchin about "you got 15 feet of hose under there commin off your engine`s crank case vent and venting to the air. It`s supposed to be in line with your intake air" He still gave me a sticker but said in the future these types of mods will be more strictly looked at. I thanked him and gave him his 40 bucks. He was afraid the dot would audit him if they looked at my stickered truck that has this mod. There is no emissions test though for diesels in new hampshire.Would this be an issue with the law?

hey cnd999 I live up in the white mountains of NH. not far from you. sounds like that guy was paranoid. I've been told NH has a set emissions test for all gas and diesel. most diesel pass the test with ease. up in this part of the country most guys don't ever go under the truck only for a fast look for rust and make sure the exhaust is there. do you have a catty on your exhaust? did he look and see?

also. off the subject. but do you run a winter braw on you grill? up here we see 30 to 40 below a lot in Jan. and Feb. I also found a place to buy bio. does it jell faster then diesel?

thanks in advance,

Ron

I watched him the whole time and he never stuffed a probe in my pipe. I know they just started emissions 1 or 2 yrs ago but didn`t know diesels weren`t excluded. He was under looking at brakes and such but didn`t notice I was catless luckily.
I don`t run with a bra but am careful to plug in at every chance. My heat has always worked great. Some winters are nasty up here though huh? Does your bio come from Conway? I think I saw it available up there. I think with an additive you would be safe to run it in winter.

well they kinda are excluded cause diesel burns cleaner then gas.it does get very windy and cold up here. i live right at the top of the notch. mt washinton is 12 miles down the road.already had snow up there 2 weeks ago.i was woundering about the braw cause of the wind chill factor driving. i know these things like to run hot. about the bio. there is place in littleton ( right down the road from me )that has it but you need to get a fuel card. im going to talk them tomarrow. and there is place in st johnsbery vt 25 miles from me im going to check out to. havnt tried the stuff yet but would like to. maybe i can start making the stuff if it works out good for the truck. You can always plug into the exhaust and hide the hose at the top of the framerail, unless they are specificall looking for it i doubt they would notice it. If you are straight piped just tap into the exhaust DP.

I dont think Kris used one on his, he just welded an inlet pipe at 45* into the exhaust and hose clamped on. Check his gallery he used to have some pics "Strokin_it7.3"

Hey fellow NH boys...when i got my truck inspected by Grappone Ford in Concord they didn't have a problem with any mods although they quoted me
$540 for a rear brake job ...did them myself for $140. I thought i read a post somewhere that stated that the commercial version of our motor has external venting.

wow theres a few of us from the north county. ive herd that too. but i think it was in the international trucks. im just not sure how it is less of a pollutant going into an intake rather then a canester or an exhaust. eather way it spreads oil under the hood and vapers go out the exhaust any ways.

Actually it wouldn't matter if he noticed you have no cat, because your truck didn't come with one from the factory. It would only be an issue if it came with a cat from the factory and then you disabled it.

Yes indeed, the IH version T-444E has a tube running from the CCV doghouse straight down venting to the atmosphere... it's referred to as a "draft tube."

I'm running non polluting B100 right now but will
switch to 50/50 mix for winter. It's a really good feeling knowing i'm contributing to clean NH air.

Now isn't that a.........tidy term for what it really does. I believe I will refer to mine the same way from now on. I'm drafting.
