Light green didn't sell in the 70's, and it doesn't sell now- no matter what foo foo name you give the color. Ditto Burnt Orange GM, even if you do call it Daytona Sunset Orange, Atomic Orange, or Orange Sherbet.
Memo to GM: "Primer" (aka Silver Birch) isn't really a color. Customers are still asking for the Pewter you dropped when you substituted colors. If your going to offer Silver, just go ahead and do it.
I'm still looking for the sand dune that looks remotely like "Dune Pearl."
"Pebble" and "Stone" give the customer no clue as which is gray and which is beige. That includes the parts people ordering trim.
What genius decided that solid White wouldn't sell on a Freestyle Limited? Or why the other Freestyles have to be two-tones.
On that note, who decided that full-size Super Duty pickups should come only with light colored interiors? Obviously someone that never used a pickup as a work truck.
And memo to GM- "Sport Red Metallic" is lipstick Red by any other name. Guys were not amused when you turned Redfire into their wives lipstick color.
It works on a SUV, but not a pickup.

Didn't sell in the 60s either. Still, Ford had to paint Maverics something.
The interesting thing is, PPG and other paint manufacturers do extensive, and I mean extensive, consumer research to see what colors people want. Why does Ford have to spend 7 figures for a group of people to figure it all out again? Just ask PPG.
BTW - At the end of the day, 2/3-3/4 of people will still buy white, black, red and silver. Ford's 1990s "Colonial White" is a dead match for its 1960s "Wimbleton White". Some things just don't change.
Throw in some shade of Blue, a lighter earthtone, and you've got it nailed. Blue is another simple color that often goes wayward- Ford's Wedgewood Blue is about the right shade for most folks (not light, not dark).
In the mid 80s you couldn't buy a green car and it didn't bother me at all. My latest used car is dark green. The prior owner said he bought it because it was green and I told him I bought it in spite of it being green. Years ago, I wouldn't buy a silver car because they faded so quickly and were unmatchable. Once they went to basecoat/clearcoat, it doesn't fade and it usually matches (unlike the light brown or tan metallics). Before I bought my silver truck, I took it to my brother's body shop to make sure he could match it in case it ever needed paintwork.
How about this for a food analogy... put a fork in Ford, they are done!
As this rate, with this subject proving that Ford seems to have other priorities besides making a sellable product line, plus Lincoln morphing into Ford's version of another Oldsmobuick lineup--which means we basically have Mercury and slightly upscale Mercury...
I think somebody said last year that GM was done to. Oh well Ford will be back. But it will take time. An nobody has time anymore. And I could never figure why Toyota sells. They sure dont have the style the Ford cars do. Buya Ford save a company. Thats what it will take to keep Ford going. Ford has better realibility ratings then Toyta right now. This should be front page headlines all over the country. But lots off people dont even know.

Its the media, I turn on Tv news is telling me how ford and gm are closing plants, dropping workers, Suv rolling over cuase people think there exphedition is a GT or vette, idiots. Then its to the commercials, Let the Ford guy worry about being able to pull his boat out of the water are tundras have trac loc some **** liek that, makes the F-150 look like ****. Then u have titan with all this ford/chevy/dodge bashing. So basically the media makes Ford/GM look like there corrupted piles of **** that make inferior products to toyota. Y ford or chevy not come up with these kind of comercials are beyond me then again I think to myself look at the amount of F-150's and silverado's sold compared to the **** imports. It just pisses me off how the media brain washes or misinforms the ppl out there that no 0 about cars.

Iwas always told women always picked the colors for new vehicles.I wish they didn't worry so much about exterior colors and had more interior colors.I still don't think my gray interior matches my green truck.
