"Americans especially have a love affair with food, which you can see in everything from the explosion of televised cooking shows to skyrocketing cookbook sales, “ says Susan Lampinen, Group Chief Designer, Color and Materials for Ford Motor Company. “Given the rise of the ‘foodle’ culture, we’re not only naming but developing vehicle colors that are rich and appetizing. Now, customers will not only hunger after their vehicles’ performance but their lucious paint colors too."
i sometimes wonder where they get these nuts for any job, i mean, darn, do they just look at the resume and hire without ever getting to an interview? or do they interview and not really ask questions to judge if the person is a bit crazy and stupid?
I find the names assigned to colors somewhat amusing- I'm a red, blue, green, black, white kinda guy, but it is interesting to know what they call 'em. Anyway, I've noticed that almost no one knows the name of the color of their car, beyond red/blue etc. From this I conclude (and hope I'm right...) that people don't choose what car to buy based on the name of the color. Maybe the color itself, but not the name. Since I can't imagine why Ford would care whether I choose a red truck or blue truck, regardless of what color they call it, this whole concept baffles me completely. What possibe advantage do they hope to gain by this?
I suspect you know a great deal more about your cars than the average person. I am shocked how often I get a blank stare when I ask a new pickup owner what axle ratio the truck has. Seems to me it is right up at the top of the list of things to know before you buy...
If the X is "refrigerator white" it is probably "Oxford White" which is what my Ranger is.
i like the lime, organge, and sage. my truck in bright red with 3.73ls. I'm more prone to tell someone i have a 5.4 w/ 3v's or 3.73 gearing or a 4x4 or maybe that i have blackleather before i ever think about that i have a "bright" red colored truck. To me the fancy name is not inportant. Matter of fact 3 of my 5 pick-ups has been red and i hate red.
They just renamed them? Its interesting, but at the same time.. i wonder how much Ford is paying these people to name them when they have other things they could be working on.
