Oh yeah, I have been looking up the Torque tube specs and I was wrong the tube is only 4.0 inches in diameter for the Powerstroke. The web site states:
Benefits:
4 HP Gain
16 Ft-lbs of Torque
Improves Airflow
Improves Throttle Response
Improves Acceleration
For $78 + shipping. Now, in a perfect world and that tube does what it states, then that tube makes up for any horsepower lost by us with open intakes sucking in warm engine air. Bear with me, from what I have heard/read, for every 10-15 degree increase in intake air you loose about 2-3 horsepower. It even would benefit the AIS users even more. Just thinking out loud. Still comes down to, is it worth the money?

IF YOU ARE GOING TO GUNTERSVILLE LAKE COUNT ME IN. I know you guys don't know me from a hole in a wall but I went camping out there with a friend from Huntsville. Wow, what a beautiful place, beautiful lake, great fishing, great food, great people. But you already know that.....
P.S. get a van turbo, you won't regret it

You are right, I don't know you from Adam but would like to meet you too Rich. I'm just trying to meet a few FTEers for some comparison and whatnot. I cannot invite you but will add you to my list of PM get together folks until I figure out what is at Guntersville. Deer hunting season is almost upon us, and that usually consumes most of my time.
Ft. Sill OK eh, what do you do there? Man we have stolen this thread. Sorry.
Edit: Who am I to decide who can be invited??? I guess I just meant at present there is nothing. I would like to see something, but it's up to us here. I think we could have a good time.

thanks for the input pocket, but air flow being the key, a smooth air flow does ideed flow better than an obstructed air flow such as the wrippled factory in take tube, would you agree to that. or is it all horse hockey that an intake tube has to be smooth to make more power???????????????????????????? and why does every power building aftermarket intake use a big filter and a smooth intake tube????????????????????????????????
Well, I did say it was smooth on the outside compared to the stock tube. But even the stock tube is smooth on the inside, so it doesn't make any difference in airflow whatsoever. That's why I say it's a waste of money, $84 for a piece of black plastic tube is overpriced to me. I'd love to see how they claim HP and torque gains, since that getup doesn't come with any new filter assembly. Basically just "replaces stock tube".
not at all pocket, though, i did not know the inside of the stock tube was smooth,
i will have to look again, because all of those ripples in the bends, dont look very smooth, but im starting to be swayed against it............thanks

I think once you look inside there you will see why we're trying to steer you away from that.
sorry, haven't figured out how to use the gallery as yet. did a search for diesel exhaust fittings and found it. was total about $30. was for looks only after I deleted the ccv joint with nipple.
rampage, the torque tube replaces the large intake tube, not the neck down turbo inlet. so, guess i will keep my tymar set up as is, and marvinlong, does your exhaust tube intake work good, do you monitor your egts. I would wonder if the metal gets hot, heating the intake air?????????????????????????? thus increasing your egt.
