Just Got My 2006 F 350 Harley Its Got 670 Miles On It And I Installed Magna Flow 4 Inch Turbo Back , K&n Intake Kit, And Super Chips Flash Paq Any Reccomendations On Pillar Guages To Install?
Pyro , boost and tran temp! The stock trans gauge is a joke and we have seen the stock boost gauges be as much off as 5 PSI. By the way the Magnaflow doesn't have any provisions for the stock cat so you could have dealer issues with that! Look at the MBRP or AFE systems, they have cat test pipes and have provisions to bolt the cat in the truck totally stock with no mods and that usually keeps the dealers happy. As far as filters look at the AFE Pro Guard 7 systems, a 4 layer filter of any brand will just let in a ton of dirt into a diesel. You'll probably want to protect the engine on a brand new one etc!!
Call us if you have any questions we'll be glad to help you.
I did a Magnaflow 4" turbo back, Airaid cold air, and an SCT Xcal2 tuner. Can't go wrong with any of them and have had no dealer problems todate. 4 visits, all warrenty and they did one flash which I reflashed back to my custom tunes. No issues w/ the exhaust either.
I used the A piller and did the same three guages, all autometers. Have fyun figuring it all out! Really like the flexibility on the SCT Xcal 2 tuner. Head and shuolders above the rest and you can find them for highr $300's w. custom tunes vs. facpory stock tunes.
Go here to see the Stewart Warner Chameleon system I put in my F250. I happened to get the EGT, Tranny Temp and Oil Temp, bu you can get whatever you want. I just love the lighting system... http://www.discountpowerparts.com/On...Main_Page.html
I get mesmerized when driving at night and put the lights on rotating.....they just keep changing colors...When I finally get didtracted enough, I usually leave them them the same color as the dash gauges!
you just asked the same question i was wondering about. i don't know much about gauges because i don't have any installed on my 97, and never needed them. no mods at all and the truck runs fine. always has.
i am looking at adding some gauges to my new one though and wanted to know if most people got the electrical or mechanical ones? not talking led readouts, the dial kind. not sure what is the real difference between the electrical ones or mechanical ones, as far as one being easier to install or one being more accurate?
i'd like to go with voltmeter, transtemp, and egt, possibly an outside temp somewhere but maybe not in the same cluster
I never understood why people still go with analog gauges. I have a digital monitor, it backs off automatically when egt gets to high(depends on where I set it, 1250 by defualt), with the new software it does the same thing with tranny temp as well(again depends on where I set it, 180 though if I don't mess with it). The biggest thing is that, I have all this gauges to choose from, tranny temp, pre-turbo pyro(although that one alwas is in the bottom left quadrant of the display), volt, speedo if you changed tires or if you just want to have a digital display, barometer, intake temp., and many more. Keeps your record highes, can give you a rough calc on horsepower and torque(which I like since I don't have access to a dyno.) I also should add that I haven't had one fail on me(yet), so I can't speak for the people that had one, went bad, and then switched to analog(I don't know if they have a longer lifespan then the digital monitors do). Other then that they look cool, and they are generally cheaper, but is there any other reason, that would have spend generally round 250 for good quality gauges, when you can only get three and you can't shift on the fly(if your tuner can do that in the first place) or have any backdown safety features, plus quit a few gauges to choose from depending on what you want to monitor and your not stuck with any one gauge(other then the pre-turbo egt gauge, which I'm sure everyone here wouldn't mind that).
I'd just like to know the difference between what they call mechanical gauge and electronic gauge, they look the same but are hooked up differently. i've seen the digital ones and would rather go with the ones that have been around the longest and have held up good.
