Draining battery?

Hey guys, I got a 01 expy EB and put my sub box in the back and ran the power wires and everything, but the battery keeps dying. I ran the remote cable to the fuse box and just spliced it in with the fuse for the stereo? Its still the stock head unit. When I unplug it from there the battery is just fine. What exactly am I doing wrong. I've hooked plenty systems up but always to aftermarket head units. Thanks guys

Which fuse for the stereo? There are 2, one is turned on with the ignition and the other one has power all the time for the memory and what not. If you hooked it into the constant power your amp will be on all the time. Check and see if your amp is shutting off when you shut your truck off, if the amp has any lights to tell if it is on. I have never hooked up amp to factory stereo but i know there are line level convertors, which i assume is what you are using for your rca input to the amp, that sense when there is a signal from the head unit and will turn your amp on and off. goodluck

Thanks for that reply but I'm still confused. The wire was into the first one that according to the book is labeled "stereo." I can't figure out which other ones wouldn't get power. I was thinking the auto door windows but the windows still roll down when you turn it off so I wasn't sure if those are continuous power. If anyone has any input on how they did it I would appreciate. Thanks again.

Use a voltmeter or a test light to see if it has power with ignition on or off. hook the remote wire up to the one that only has power with the ignition turned on.

As a side note, hopefully you charged the battery with a charger and didn't just boost it and let the alternator charge the battery. Boosting a dead battery and letting the alternator charge it is very hard on the alternator... It will get so hot that you cannot touch it; not good, cause that heat you are feeling on the case is being radiated by the coils inside which are WAY hotter.
