Alanco, I had been wanting a panel that my kids would ride in so I built a killer 53 Courier ( Ford Sedan Delivery) with a 302/C4/9 and 'all the bells etc, but the kids would never like to be in it since they want to see everything. My next longroof was a 48 F-1 that I built and sold, but I still wanted more seats now that I have 4 grandkids that love to cruise, so I finally found a solid straight, rust free, running 1950 Suburban. It seats 8, is a 1/2 Ton shorty. Sometimes, we just have to do waht a guy has to do.

Cool! Now instead of being El Cabron, you will be el patron or el jefe with the kids. When I got my 75 Ford Van, the kids couldn't see out, then came the loveseat and the Bay Window. I went from goat to good guy, and got rid of the milk crates......
I misconstrued this from the beginning, after I saw the panel pics I got on board. At first I was thinking of a panel converted to a Ranchero type truck, I guess because I saw one once, had a pickup roof and molded 1/4s, was 'way cool
With my kids I wouldn't even concider putting windows in my panel. As it is now when we go on a cross country trip in our four pickup my kids bury their faces in there hand held eletronic games, or sleep, and don't even look out the windows. They have missed a lot. Whenever I tell them to turn off the pieces of junk and look out the windows, both they and wife start to tell me there's nothing to see. When there is something to see we have already passed whatever was of interest before they look up. I wouldn't ruin a perfectly good truck to add a feature that would never be used.
I plan to install a removeable seat in the back and let the kids back there with their electronic junk.
You have a good point. I would never cut a good panel for sake of windows. On the other hand, the windowed long-roofs are nice when traveling as a fam. We do not allow electronic gadgets in the daytime when we vacation and the kids love to look around. We give them disposable cameras instead. It's all good.
If it was up to me I would toss the eletronic games out the window, there is a lot more interesting things just outside the windows. My wife is the one who lets them bury themselves in them, I am too busy driving to argue. What a waste
I was thinking about a streched and widened panel based on an F-7 or F-8 frame. While I am at it, add Marmon Herrington 4WD and big block and a blower. That thing would be huge.

Bob, if you ever had to travel around with my daughter you would change your mind. Trust me, its a better trip with her engrossed in something. She is what you would call "high maintenance"...ugh
Just pulling your chain a bit. When we go on long road trips I like to get books on tape. They are fantastic for eating up the miles. Usually my wife, son, and myself have a great time watching the scenery and listening to the books while my daughter has her headphones listening to her crap.
My kids drive me nuts because my family never took the trips my and I have taken our kids on. This country is beautiful and there is always something new, OK the middle of South Dakota is a little boring, sorry SD members.

Can you say "Really **** off tree huggers"? That would be sweet..But then again, why not buy a period bus, and weld steel over the windows. BAM! theres your idea.

That's too easy, anyone could do that!
