2004 F-350 Lariat, 38,286 miles - Boost, Pyro gauges, 2” Rancho suspension lift 305/75/R16 tires everything else is stock.

I just wanted to let people know. I did purchase the predator performance module by Dr. Performance (80hp model)($380.00). I installed it last weekend. I was hoping to increase my fuel mileage. I have been running a steady 13 to 13.5 MPG empty, 16 to 16.5 Hwy (75 mph), and 11.5 to 12 pulling a 8,000 lb toy haler trailer since I bought this truck used, (July of this year)

Now before I get chastised by people on this forum just keep in mind I know I have to run a few tanks through the truck to find out for sure. But I am impressed with the module.

The LieOmeter is reading 16.3 MPG doing my normal drive to and from work, up from the 13-13.5 it normally is. I know I know, but my lieOmeter has always been no more then .2 away from hand cal. I keep records of my fuel and maintenance records I put them into a spread sheet to keep a log of this truck. My average for this truck is 13.9 MPG for the miles I have put on it since I have had this truck.

Power - dang talk about sweet. With just a 80hp increase if that’s what it truly is, I love it. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to add 160 hp to this truck.

I was not really looking to add more power I thought the truck was fine the way it was I just was not happy with the fuel mileage. This is my daily drive so I am not interested in going crazy with building power I need a reliable truck. But even so I can’t help but smile now every time I drive it. (It was hard to keep the smile off my face when I drove this truck before I put the module on. But now I just look stupid when I drive the truck.)

I have not pulled my trailer yet with this module so I can’t say what the EGT and Boost are when pulling. But I have not seen any increase running empty. I will post more info in a few weeks after I have put some more fuel through the truck.

Keep in mind I live at 5360 ft. altitude. I already have 21% less hp then someone close to sea level. You louse about 4% of your power for every 1000 ft of altitude.

So to sum it up I am very happy with the Predator plug in module. It has given me everything it says it would. 23% better fuel mileage and definitely more horse power.
I think anyone wanting to increase fuel mileage should give it a try. It has a 30 day money back guarantee if you are not happy with it, all I can say is it did what I wanted it to do for me and then some.

It only took me 2 minutes to install it after I got the right install instructions. My truck was built in 05/04 right about the time the newer engine went into production. I have a late 04 model engine. If you have an early 03-04 engine it might be more of a pain to install onto this engine. My brother has a 03 and now he is going to put this module on his truck so I will let you know how that goes.

Ok Lonewolftx where can I get the SCT Xcal2 w/custom tune SCT Xcal2 w/ custom tunes for the price of $380. The places I have seen on the net are closer to the $460 price range. What more am I going to get with the SCT tunes? Who do I get the custom tunes from?

Predator is a joke, it increases Injection Pressure only and only by hooking up the MAP sensor wire do you gain Low Boost Fueling which in turn throws more fuel to engine under no or low boost conditions. Call Innovative Diesel if you want real power for about the same price and its not half *** innovation like a predator it tunes the shifting also.

I’m not going to argue with all you people out there. All I’m saying is I was happy with the Module.

It does what it says it does Period.

It can be installed and removed in 30 seconds even if the truck was not running or the batteries are dead.

From what I can tell no added emissions from the tail pipe, but I have not had it tested yet with the module.

We have very strict emissions here and I can not install something that is going to over fuel the truck. This truck is my daily driver and I am not going to risk it by installing something that is going to raise HP ratings so much it is going to affect and break other things in the truck. A friend of mine just got a $500.00 ticket in September for excess emissions on his truck; guess what? It had one of these fancy programs in it. So now his fancy program has cost him over $1000.00 He has removed it and has not loaded it back into his truck.

So the bottom line

Was I happy with the Module YES
Was it easy to hook up YES (with the Wright Instructions)
Do I think it would help people that don’t want to go stupid with HP and are looking for better fuel mileage YES
Are there other programs out there that will make big HP yes but that’s not what I’m looking for.
Can I pass emissions with these big HP controllers installed absolutely not. If I’m caught I get to give the state a $500.00 bill.

If big HP is what you want. Then go for it.
I don’t want or need to burn up and destroy my $35,000 truck.

Talking No issues here . . .

Sounds like your friend "forgot" he had his program in and should have removed it before he had his emissons checked. Oh well. I was just saying for the $$$ you spent an SCT programmer would give you more options.

You can program it for whatever it is you want to accomplish, not just for more HP. It is easy to use and completly removeable when you just want the stock factory program in the truck, for whatever reason.

IMO I think it gives you more options and that is always a good thing . . .

dynarider1995,

Your Lie O Meter will not be accurate after the install, you will need to calculate by hand after you install ANY programmer or module to be any where near accurate. Do that and get back to us after 1000 or so miles, your MPG will be up but not by 23% I bet. Plus if you tow get some gauges.

Thanks Mark, I know this, that’s why in my post I said I needed to put a few tanks of fuel through it before knowing for sure. I do have Boost and Pyrometer gages. I would not have a diesel without them not even a stock truck. I have been driving diesel pick up trucks for over 16 years. My first was a ford 7.3 then a dodge 12 valve and now this 6.0L I still have the old dodge with the Cummins motor. It has been a great truck over 245,000 and I still get 22 MPG empty and 18 pulling my trailer, not bad for a motor that only puts out 126 HP at the rear wheels (at this altitude.) I was just getting tired of driving the old rattling thing and wanted to get a newer truck before all the emissions stuff on the 07-08 trucks come into effect. I will post what I find out after I have put 3 or 4 tanks through the truck.

You will see a 2-3mpg increase on the highway. In town varies by how much you stop and go and your foot. 23% is VERY optimistic but possible. 23% would be 19.6mpg on your truck. I have heard of the 6.0 getting 20mpg before but I didn't believe them:-)

Oneforspeed, how do you get 13 mpg plus 23% is 19.6 mpg.
If I take my calculator and take
13 mpg + 23% I get 15.99 mpg.
If I take
13 mpg + 50% I get 19.5.
Or
1/2 of 13 us 6.5 if I take 6.5 + 13 = 19.5 --- =’s 50% increase from 13

Am I doing my math wrong? If I am please post the correct procedure to find what the correct percent of the increase of the fuel mileage is from 13 mpg to 16 mpg.

Thanks
BTW
My brother has a 2003 F250 4x4 we took a trip back to Michigan in July and we took his truck. From Colorado to Michigan 1200 miles we got (hand calculation each fill up until fuel could be seen in the fuel neck) 23.5 mpg at 70 mph. On our return trip the truck got 21.7 mpg, same fill up procedure same drive speed 70mph.

If my calculations are right his truck gets 39% better fuel mileage then my truck does. His truck is totally stock. He has a F250 and my truck is a F350 same gearing same Auto Transmission. The best I ever got with my truck total hwy driving empty at 70 mph is 17.1 mpg

Didn't your earlier post say you get 16mpg on the highway. If that is the case 16mpg increase of 23%=19.68

I have a buddy that gets wonderful mileage in a 2004 3/4ton 6.0. He does hit 20mpg. He is the only one I have seen get that for real. Now I know of two. I told him to never touch his truck. He drives slow also. I believe the trick is staying under that 75mph speed. Every diesel I have owned drops 2mpg above 75mph. I know a lot of folks that don't get better than 15mpg on the highway.

Same math different number :=)

One4speed ok now I see where you were coming from. Yes I did say I was getting 16 mpg hwy (my bad.) But I have not done any hwy driving since I put the module on the truck. The 23% I was referring to was from my normal 13 mpg I get going to and from work mostly what you would call city driving way too many stoplights. If I get 19.7 mpg running at hwy speeds ( I normally drive about 70 mph) I will be extremely happy. At this time I don’t know what I will get hwy driving. When I get more info I will post it. Like I said before I need to run a few tanks through the truck before I know for sure. But I like what I see so far.
