I am going to start building a fully aluminum motercycle trailer, The trailer is going to be 10 feet long and 6.5 feet wide and the walls are going to be 5 feet high. I'll be making it in School during Shop class. any advice on putting it together or anything like that.
I would suggest against ALUMINIUM.
Aluminium has a tendency to weaken at all welds (even TIG). Also it will fail after so many load cycles unless it is built very rigid.
Unless you have an engineering degree aluminium is more of a pain then a gain is this application.
Aluminium semi trailers are highly engineered with all these factors figured in.
It has bling factor for sure, but most motorcycle trailers are lightweight enough made from steel. This being a truck forum, I assume you have a truck capable to tow any MC trailer.
My 3.0 Ranger pulls 3 bikes on my homemade steel trailer quite easily.
